Weeping fells, Scotland

Hello Again

This painting was again taken from the hundreds of photos from my collection that I have proudly built up over the many years of working in my studio. It was taken whilst on holiday in Fort William, Scotland. The breath taking beauty and awsome scenery all around me, inspired me to get to work straight away as soon as I got home. As you can see part of the Ben Nevis range of mountains are in the background. For the sky I did a wash in cobalt blue and loaded a small brush with white Gouache carefully working it in whilst still wet, I used an oil pastel for the mountain applied thickly for a solid base on which to place the snow, again I layered this thickly in white to get the effect of the snow being solid and raised thus giving the impression of a ruggid and craggy mountain. Using the same method throughout the painting with a series of washes in

green and thickly applied gouache for the darker areas on the grass I used a combination of black and burnt umber, mixed with lemon yellow for the lighter areas I went over it all in oil pastel to make the grass stand out. this same technique was used to give the water the appearence of gushing down.  Hope you enjoyed the view and I would welcome any comments you would like to make.
